Our third year at Maker Faire turned out to be huge! We earned much more than we ever have at any single event and it's due to the hard work and artful approach our Red Cloud students took to entrepreneurship!

This year we earned $17,370 over the 3 day event! This is almost 5 times more than last year's Maker Faire! WOW! The money earned goes towards the Hongyun Art Foundation to fund next year's round of creative business ideas from our Red Cloud students. The competition will culminate in applications to Maker Faire and we'll use our funds to purchase equipment, create inventory, and go to Maker Faire to launch our businesses!

Maker Faire 2014 earnings:$2058

Maker Faire 2015 earnings:$3564 (+73% YOY Increase)

Maker Faire 2016 earnings:$17,370 (+487% YOY Increase!!)

We decided to use three main product ideas that we had over the past year.

Light-up butterfly hair clips that we developed 3 years ago for our first Maker Faire.
3D printed glow-in-the-dark succulent planters as well as glowing glass succulent planters.
Finally we had ElectroWear light-up wires that you can wear!

The students developed several tutorial videos as well as designs they could wear during the event and give attendees ideas of what ElectroWear could be used for. Overall it was a huge success!
