We have small groups, creative projects, and of course, lots of FUN planned for the Mid Year Break!

Happy holidays everyone! Our super FUN Winter Break Camp starts this coming Monday 12/23! We hope you can join us for at least one day (scheduling is flexible so choose as little as 1 day up to all 6 days!).

Our Thanksgiving Paintlympics event was epic! We paired 3 Red Cloud students with 2 Hongyun Art Teachers for each of 4 teams that created all new murals for the walls and classrooms of Hongyun Art over the Thanksgiving holiday.
Teamwork and fun are core values of Hongyun Art and what better way to practice our values than to have a friendly competition filled with amazing students and teachers, stunning murals, donuts & snacks, music, and of course Mindy!

Now that everyone has enjoyed an awesome Thanksgiving holiday, the Hongyun Art Teachers and Hongyun Art Red Cloud students would like to invite you to come see the new Hongyun Art!
Over the Thanksgiving holiday, we held our 1st ever Paintlympics - an art competition like no other! Each Paintlympics team is assigned an area of the school to reimagine with new artwork and murals! Each team consists of 3 Red Cloud (highest level) students and 2 teachers so you know each area will be amazing! It's a wonderful opportunity to use their creativity, teamwork, and art skills to refresh our school!
But the Paintlympics are not over yet!
We need YOUR help to judge the winners and crown the best team! They are competing not only for top honors as the winner of the 1st every Paintlympics, but also for PRIZES!!
Voting will be at Hongyun Art THIS SUNDAY (TOMORROW!!) 12/1 from 5pm - 6pm to see the new murals and vote for your favorite room!

Wow what a year! It's nearing the holidays which means it's a good time to pause and look back on our Party Team's first full year in operation!
We started the year by forming the Party Team and helping Yahoo! Internet company celebrate the New Year. We also helped Cupertino City celebrate Earth Day like never before with an unbelievable chalk mural that spanned the Civic Plaza in front of the Library and City Hall. We also attended various private events including a birthday party, a neighborhood party, and a summer picnic forUCSF & Stanford doctors and their patients (it's also where we debuted our brand new BRIGHT ORANGE TENT!). Cupertino asked for our help again to welcome the Fall Season (that brought a super big rain storm) at the Fall Festival and held emergency dance parties at our very own Fall Movie! Not only that, we were good citizens and helped two of our local public schools celebrate two HUGE events on the same day! Finally, we ended the Party Team season with our largest contribution to the Mindy Bank this year with our work at Santa Clara Convention Center's Hoilday Bazaar!
We want to congratulate all of the members of the Party Team for their amazing hard work, spirit, and energy! You have proven that "Art is not just about pretty pictures" just as Hongyun has taught you - we can't wait to see what you guys can do in 2014!
Current Hongyun Art students receive discounted tuition for the next term at select periods twice a year! Be sure to register by Sunday to save almost $100 off of next semester's tuition!
For new students, open enrollment is going on NOW for the next term! You can register and come for a tryout class by 11/17 and still get discounted tuition (see Q&A below).

Each year we wrap up the amazing artwork, super fun activities, and the culture of Hongyun Art into a digital art show in the form of a movie! It's a fun and unique way to experience Hongyun Art and review the accomplishments of our students!
Invited Guests of Hongyun Art Students, it's time to pick up your tickets for this Sunday's Hongyun Art Movie at AMC Theaters Cupertino! We're putting on our first all digital art show! Please stop in to Hongyun Art to pickup your tickets between Wednesday - Saturday or at the 3rd floor theater on Sunday (movie day!).

All tickets are while supplies last and are first come first served. You must present an invitation card to pickup your tickets (max of 3 tickets per invited family with invitation card).
Each year, Hongyun Art takes great pride in introducing it's newest cohort of Red Cloud students, our top level students. We do this in a unique way by way of our Fall Movie! Our new Hongyun Art Red Cloud students will find out who they are at the end of our Fall Movie on Sunday 10/13! Don't miss it - it's sure to be an exciting and emotional time!
To many Hongyun Art students, reaching the Red Cloud is like climbing Mount Everest - it's a challenge that takes years to accomplish and feels like you're on top of the world once you reach it!
Hongyun Art Red Cloud students are the best of the best! They exhibit the qualities that Hongyun tries to grow in all of her students: Creativity, Leadership, and Art Skills!
Reaching the Red Cloud may feel like the end of a journey, but it actually is just the beginning! Once you've obtained the title of Red Cloud, you're expected to wield the great power it commands for the betterment of other Hongyun Art students, your family, and your community! We encourage each Red Cloud student to take on a individual creation project! This year, we are adding something new to the mix! Our Red Cloud students will be working with Hongyun to create their own businesses and products to debut at Maker Faire 2014! All proceeds will be put directly back into the Hongyun Art Party Team Mindy Bank (our version of a "Piggy Bank").
It will take the collect creativity, leadership, and art skills of the Hongyun Art Red Cloud to meet this ambitious challenge! Do you think you can take this challenge on?
It's almost movie time everyone! Each year Hongyun Art invites it's students, their families, and friends for a special event just for them!
This year, we will be showing a movie at AMC Theaters in Cupertino on Sunday 10/13 - and you're all invited!

This past Sunday, our super fun Party Team helped to the UCSF-Stanford Cochlear Implant Center's staff and patients celebrate during their annual picnic!
Our team members helped to ensure fun times with our bubble machines, face paint, glitter tattoos, and even fun rounds of beach ball volleyball!
We can't wait for one of the biggest celebrations of the year - the Silicon Valley Fall Festival! at Cupertino Memorial Park
The Hongyun Art Party Team will be at the Fall Festival creating awesome Face Paint and Glitter Tattoo!
As a special bonus, current Hongyun Art Students will get 1 free Face Paint! AND Hongyun Art Students can invite up to two friends and they also get 1 free Face Paint each!

Hongyun Art's clubs are a fun after-school program where Hongyun Art students work together to create their very own stories!
Each club is a small group that works over the semester with a Hongyun Art teacher to create their very own Story Book, Comic, or even News articles!

Just a quick recap of what the Art Explorers Camp at Hongyun Art is all about:
We have a fun each day exploring and learning! We try to have each camper do as much on their own as possible so they can have new experiences each day! We love hearing, "Wow, this was the first time I've done that and I did it myself!"
We've been busy untangling ourselves from the miles of yarn, felt, and wool that we used during last week's Creative Business Camp! It's was a super fun week where our campers learned about creating super cool crafts using their hands and simple materials found just about anywhere!
At the end of the week, our campers created their own craft convention! Our "sharks" visited each booth to interview the "CEOs" and look at their products. The sharks picked one winner to be the best overall business & products and gave a cash prize! Can you guess who won?
