We go from zero to finished story book in this two week intensive camp!  We learn about the intricacies of creating compelling characters and storylines and go to work creating our own complete illustrated stories!

In this camp, we learned about the natural world through fun and creative craftwork!  We created a painting made from watercolors and actual plants, pinecone owls, and even our own fairy forest homes!  Each day we took the Hongyun Art bus to the park for a lunch picnic and play time before returning to do more fun projects!

We had so much fun exploring the animal kingdom through art!  We learned about many different animals and how they live by creating watercolor paintings, finger puppets, and even shadow puppets!  Each day we got to ride the Hongyun Art bus to the park and had a picnic lunch!

Our Masterpiece Painting Camp is a two week deep dive into famous artists and their works of art.  We learned about the lives and work of such artists as Van Gogh, Cezanne, Hokusai, Monet, and more!  We also recreated several masterpieces, studying the intricacies and techniques of these great masters - it was a lot of work but also a lot of fun!

Our two week fashion design and illustration camp delves deep into the fashion world with a focus on learning the technical art skills to create great fashion illustrations.  We learned all about fashion design and the fashion industry while creating unique designs for our very own fashion collections!

In this camp, we explore different periods in history starting from the prehistoric, traveling through the middle ages, and all the way to the future!  As we learned about various time periods and locations, we created crafts to reflect upon our discoveries!

In this one week intensive painting camp, we learned the foundations and some advanced techniques of landscape painting with acrylics and watercolors.  We spent time plen air to experience life as an artist trying to capture the landscape in the moment.

We had a fun two weeks learning about figure drawing and character development!  Not only did we learn about drawing, but we learned how to consider the background, emotions, and actions of a character in developing their visual design.  On top of that, we travelled to San Francisco to visit the Walt Disney Family Museum to learn more about one of the great masters in character design and all of his great stories - Walt Disney!

Mindy Comic Summer Camp is where kids come together to create their own comic adventure!  In just two weeks, we created three full length graphic novels!  After the character designs, dialog, storyline, and artwork are completed, Hongyun Art works with a publisher to put the books into print!  They are available for purchase on Amazon.com and other retailers as well as available to libraries around the world!  Cool! 

Five Sense Art Camp was super fun!  We created great crafts that explore all of our senses and even toured Whole Foods Market to learn about our senses of taste and smell!  What a delicious way to learn!

What a fun camp!  We learned about sea creatures and created fun ocean themed crafts!  Hope you enjoy the photos!

This Spring Camp, we had lots of fun with two nature related camps!  For our younger campers we had a nature crafting camp where we created fun crafts with a nature theme!  Our Science Sketchbook Camp was a hit with our students age 10 and up - we learned about and drew all kinds of animals just like scientist did when they first started documenting the natural world!

We had two camp programs for our Mid Year Break:  In our Space Explorers Crafting Camp for students ages 4 - 9 we created fun objects made of all sorts of interesting materials!

In our Landscape Study Camp, we learned about sketching and painting various landscape elements including flowers, trees, and far off mountain scenery!

During the winter break camp, we explored the world by creating super fun crafts and having a great time at Hongyun Art! 

We had two separate camps for the Thanksgiving Break.  Our paper crafts camp focused on making gifts for family and friends out of paper!  Our branding camp taught students the basics of creating our own brands and developing graphics, logos, and product packaging using Adobe Illustrator and other fun tools!

August 11 - 15, 2014

This summer camp week was all about FOOD!!!  We also had a field trip to Boudin Sourdough Bread Company in San Francisco  where we learned about the history of San Francisco during the gold rush and Boudin's role throughout San Francisco history.  We also watched sourdough bread getting made, sampled LOTS of sourdough bread, and of course had a lunch of delicious food made with sourdough bread!   We concluded our week with a scavenger hunt and cooking class at Whole Foods Market!

July 28 - August 1, 2014

This summer camp week focused on learning about alternative energy and transportation!  We had a field trip to an electric bike shop where we learned about how electric bikes are a great way to get around!  We also visited a Tesla dealer and learned about electric cars!   We concluded our week with a scavenger hunt and cooking class at Whole Foods Market!
