We met the chefs who made the pastries that everyone at the hotel enjoys each day!
Yum!
The Fairmont Laundry
Have you ever seen a washing machine as big as a car? We did? Lots of them! The Fairmont has automatic folding machines too! We watched this machine automatically fold and stack towels - if only they had a machine that folded socks!
One of the Fairmont's many banquet rooms!
We got to see so many parts of the hotel most people never get to go to!
Room Service!
This is where the guest room service calls come to get filled! We also saw the kitchen staff making lobster tails for a party of 200 guests!
Let's head to the pool!
We got to visit the pool area to take a break!
Lunch is served!
Wow! Mr. Jimmy surprised us with a super duper lunch of club sandwiches, pepper chips, cookies & treats, and soda!
We take time...
...to sit and reflect on what we saw today. We also spend some time to observe our surroundings and practice our art work!
We're at Andy's Pet Shop!
This San Jose institution rescues and rehabilitates animals from all over. We learned about the various animals they had there and was able to help the staff at the pet shop care for and feed the animals!
Lunch time at Public Market!
We walked over to Public Market to have a picnic lunch! What a great place in Downtown San Jose
Playtime with Mindy!
Each camp day, we spend some outdoor time at the playground to play games with Mindy! Mindy is especially good at dog soccer and loves to pop her playtime ball!
On the third day...
...we visited the Cantor Arts Center and got a private tour of the museum before the museum opened with Miss Norma--one of the docents.
Miss Norma...
...knows everything about everything in the museum! She was very knowledgeable and showed us so many pieces from different parts of the world and different eras!
David..
...is a cast sculpture made from a real person! He looks so real!
This sculpture...
...will be moved to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art when it's new reconstruction finishes. But we got to see and play in it before it moves!
On Day 4...
...we visit the Whole Foods Market in Cupertino to learn how to make our own healthy lunches!
Let's make fruit crisps!
Ready to make a mess!
We're going to make fruit kabobs next
Look at the...
...YUMMY KABOBS!
Now, we'll make our main course
...a healthy and fresh wrap filled with vegetables!
Our fruit crisps...
...are just out of the oven by the time we finish lunch! It's a good idea to make baked desserts FIRST before cooking everything else :)
Now that we've made and eaten lunch...
...let's setup some displays for still life!
Our final day of Art Explorer's Camp...
...we visited a special place filled with horses and fun!
Mr. Rooster...
...is the rancher that runs the Polhemus Ranch. He knows everything about horses and ranching!
