I used a small black and white wedding photo of my Korean friend Inna. Her wedding dress was very traditional but had modern touches at the same time. I was able to add colors from other Korean wedding references. Also, I experimented on the background by layering may different colored strokes on top of each other until I achieved the affect I desired.
