One normally wouldn't look to a trash company as a source of avant-garde art, but this is Northern California, after all. NorCal Waste Systesm has had an Artists in Residency Program since about 1997. Currently an artist who goes by the name of Andrew Junge is in residence at their recycling and waste processing center (I hope they have good air filtering at the studio). He created some interesting installation and large sculpture pieces. His styrofoam Hummer is genius.
